when the models walked the runway for the prada spring 2011 show in beijing things looked slightly different than what was shown a few months ago....cotton & canvas were replaced with sequins & leather.
apparently, the chinese clientele don't want minimalism....even the shoes were sequined! prada's revenue from the far east has grown by 75% in the past two years so it seems like a small sacrifice to make. (there are already 14 stores with 9 more planned this year.) she told wwd, "there are fashionable people here that you wouldn't even find in paris, new york or london. they have already understood everything that they had to understand."
