marion morehouse rose to prominence in the 1920s & 1930s as the preferred muse for vanity fair & vogue photographer edward steichen. steichen is quoted as saying: "the greatest fashion model i ever photographed was marion morehouse. when she put on the clothes that were to be photographed, she transformed herself into a woman who really would wear that gown." she was one of the first publicly known fashion models from these sittings. she later became the 3rd wife of the poet e.e. cummings, whom she met in 1932. (although it is not clear whether they were ever legally married) although she was 12 years younger than cummings, they shared a long live together - she lived with him until his death in 1962. she died 7 years later at the greenwich village apartment they shared.
