i spent a lovely weekend in the desert with a dear friend & her dog sadie. we stayed in pioneertown just down the road from joshua tree. pioneertown was built in 1946 as a movie set for western movies. the movie set, an 1870's frontier town, provided a place for the actors to live while filming there. we stayed at the pioneertown motel right behind pappy & harriet's pioneertown palace. it's so gorgeous in the desert - the colors, the stars at night, the sun! so relaxing and beautiful. on sunday we did a little vintage shopping & then headed to palm springs to the ace hotel swimming pool. it was hard to pull ourselves away and head back to hollywood. luckily it's only about 2 hours away so we'll be back soon.
