denis kader & candas sisman, two turkish visual artists created yekpare - an urbanscreening projection mapping - to celebrate their city and its history. they used an emblem of istanbul, the haydarpasa train station, as a screen for their video projection. through constant transformations, haydarpasa train station becomes a metaphoric map. yekpare was conceived as a storyteller who narrates the 8500 years chronicle of istanbul. the installation embraces symbols from pagans to the roman empire, from byzantine empire to latin empire, and finally from ottoman empire to istanbul at present. it is gorgeous and mesmerizing.
